Calling All Guilford Trail Supporters — Please Attend August 13th Public Hearing on SGT!

August 8, 2014
To our valued Guilford members and supporters of Shoreline Greenway Trail:

We are writing you each in haste.  We are asking as many of you as possible to attend a very important Public Hearing about Shoreline Greenway Trail’s first section in Guilford, just scheduled by the Town for next Wednesday August 13 at 7:30PM, at the Guilford Community Center.

This hearing will solicit public feedback about our very first proposed one-mile Trail section in Guilford, on the south side of Route 1, completely separate from the road, from the East River bridge up to Boston Street!

Our Guilford SGT Team member Milton Charlton has been working over the past couple years with Guilford Town Engineer, Jim Portley, and his assistant, Mark Damiani, to develop the route and a preliminary design plan for this segment that will be presented at this Public Hearing. The plan has been given a preliminary review by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

This is our first public opportunity in a long time to demonstrate to the Town officials that many, many residents of Guilford support our Trail and are anxious for us to get started with our first section in Guilford at long last.

There is strength in numbers!  Even if the meeting goes well, and is brief, your supportive presence will be very important in confirming to the Town leadership and to the State Department of Transportation that this is a project that should go forward . . . as a major asset for the Town and our residents.

So, please help build the first Trail section in Guilford . . . . .  by attending Wednesday night!
Thank you!

Milton Charlton, co-chair, Guilford Team, Shoreline Greenway Trail
Pam Bisbee Simonds, new co-chair, Guilford Team, SGT
