What a Day!

December 29, 2014

What a day we had for Branford’s third annual “Get the Children Outside” walk! Saturday, December 27, 2014 dawned to be sunny and unusually warm for a winter’s day. As you can see from the slideshow,  about 80 children of all ages showed up and enjoyed this walk! We were especially glad to see so many children, since the Shoreline Greenway Trail is unique in providing families with safe off road hiking and bicycling.

Our walk went from the parking lot of Tabor Church, out to Chet’s pond, where the views were just beautiful! We continued along the Tabor Trail to Branford’s newest park addition – Ecology Park. From the top of the hill we were able to see Branford Green and the Blackstone Library as well as the Long Island Sound.

Thank you to Leo Cristofar, for leading this hike and to Chet Blomquist, Bimmie Herget, Judy Miller and Jo Zaehringer for getting the word out and helping with the hike.

Just one more thing, if there was any day that the words from the song “on a clear day, you can see forever” rang true, this was it! One of our walkers, Jen Aniskovich, shared photos of some of the wonderful faces in the above slideshow but also captured some outstanding pictures of the scenery along the trail.
