International Festival of Arts and Ideas group tours EHSGT

It was a lovely day on June 14th as the International Festival of Arts and Ideas group took a ride through the East Haven SGT. After the trail ride the group wrapped up the afternoon with an ice cream social at a favorite local spot overlooking the beach!

East Haven Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The ribbon cutting ceremony and walk on May 11th to celebrate the opening of the newly constructed Shoreline Greenway Trail in the beautiful Farm River State Park was a great success! We could not have asked for better weather, or a nicer group of people!

The ceremony was kicked off with a welcome speech by East Haven, SGT Chairwoman Barbara Brow, and comments from East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr., and Laurie Giannotti, coordinator of DEEP trails and greenways program. Construction of the trail was funded by a recreation trail grant from DEEP and designed and built by Timber and Stone LLC.

The trail connects users to nature and is safe for walking and biking. It connects by way of Pevetty Drive to the built Shoreline Greenway Trail at the D.C. Moore School property. We invite East Haven residents and members of our surrounding towns and communities to enjoy this new multi-use trail. Thanks to all participants who supported the event and made it a memorable morning.

Exploring the newly remodeled trail!

Construction of a widened, stone topped Shoreline Greenway Trail through Farm River State Park is completed along with two beautiful bridges.  Trail construction was made possible with State of Connecticut DEEP matching grant funds. This multiuse trail connects users to nature and is safe for walking and biking. It connects by way of Pevetty Drive to the built Shoreline Greenway Trail at the D. C. Moore School property.
Help from many, made this trail possible. We welcome the opportunity to thank Scoutmaster Ned Taylor’s, Boy Scout Troop 401 for clearing the path in 2010. We  thank Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr. for his support and for allowing East Haven Public Works to ready the trail for construction. We thank town engineer, Kevin White, and public works supervisor, Charles Coyle for their guidance and help and we thank East Haven Public Works Crew for their pre-construction work contribution.

We invite all residents to take time to enjoy a lovely walk(or bike ride) in the park on this substantial improvement to a special place in town.

Kids Challenge Event begins with a scavenger hunt along the DC Moore trail segment.

The East Haven School District teamed up with the East Haven Wellness Committee to hold a Kids Challenge Event on May 21st at the DC Moore trail segment of the East Haven SGT. Kids of all ages used the trail for a scavenger hunt to find things like flowers and birds, and the whole family got involved in a race from one end of the trail to the other.
