East Haven Update, Autumn 2007
The East Haven Shoreline Greenway Trail Town Team is making important progress. Two town-owned properties have been cleared in partnership with Boy Scout Troop 401. The first l,l00 ft wooded trail clearing is located on Elliot Street, behind DC Moore School. This trail clearing was done under the direction of Justin Richardson working toward his Eagle Scout Badge.
The second trail clearing is located South of Elliot Street. This 720 ft.section affords us a scenic overview of our tidal wetlands, the Bradford Preserve. Michael Gambardella Jr, also working toward his Eagle Scout Badge, directed the work. These two trail clearings represent approximately 1/3 of a mile and equals l0% of East Haven’s trail.
We were pleased to be awarded $23,200 by DEP for Recreational Trail Grant monies to build our trail on Elliot Street!
And we received tentative approval from the East Haven Land Trust to explore the feasibility of our trail through Land Trust property known as the Bradford Preserve. We will meet with the manager of the Farm River State Park to discuss trail possibilities through the State Park.
EH SGT Town Team has joined the EH Chamber of Commerce. We plan to do an information program on our public access station ET , and we will conducting public SGT information meetings. We remain steadfastly committed to establishing the Trail along our shoreline, and we need more help. Please join us at our next monthly meeting,
