Anthem Blue Cross Section at Hammonasset

This fall 2009, our volunteers, working with our dedicated Trailmeister Perry Rianhard, have concentrated on completing the one-mile trail from the Hammonassett Beach State Park entrance road west to Webster Point Road. We have completed most of the contouring and installation of a fence between the campground and the Trail, requested by the Park. Next will be finishing the trail surface and the boardwalk from the entrance road across the marsh. In the meantime, we are researching bridge and boardwalk designs and applying for wetlands permits.

Progress on this section has been made possible by a major grant from Anthem Blue Cross, as well as generous grants from the Madison Newcomers Club and the Madison Jaycees, and donations from many individuals. We have about half the funding we need to complete this section. We are deeply grateful to all for their support.
