East Haven’s August ‘First Saturday’ Hike was a delightful walk in the rain!

August 10, 2013

IMG_0020Nine hardy hikers led by Mike Gambardella enjoyed the morning, including a Vietnam vet with his grandaughter.  We walked on a side trail loop to see the marsh area where Shoreline Greenway Trail’s  East Haven Team will construct a boardwalk soon, to link our Trail to the Bradford Preserve Land Trust property and to the Cosey Beach area.

Along our  lovely shaded Trail we passed the huge glacial erratic (boulder) next to a grove of wild clethra, ending at the Trailhead parking lot.  From there, we walked along the road to a back entrance into Farm River State Park where East Haven Scouts have cleared a path to the lookout point along Farm River.
