1st Sat November 4th Bike Ride – Carpe Diem!

February 14, 2018

What a difference a month makes at this time of year! During October’s First Saturday walk, participants were in shorts; November’s bike ride required thermal layers to keep people warm in the cold morning air. Despite the cool temps (low 40s at around 10 a.m.), 13 cyclists joined the round-trip bike ride led by SGT’s Kristen D’Souza and Peter Hawes from Guilford’s Harbor to Circle Beach in Madison.

It was a chilly start, but once the group got moving, took on the few hills and arrived at Circle Beach, the group had forgotten the cold, couldn’t help take in the beautiful views of Long Island Sound and appreciated how fortunate we are to live in or be able to visit the Connecticut Shoreline.

The ride kicked off a birthday celebration for one of the participants, Kellie; we’re happy that she and her family chose to join SGT for the occasion. Not only were they a ton of fun on the ride, they put an festive exclamation point on the end of the ride when Kellie and several family members jumped off the town boat dock into the frigid water of Guilford Harbor!

Thank you to everyone who joined the ride! Carpe Diem!!
