Shoreline Greenway Trail is the Grand Marshal of Madison’s 2024 July 4th Parade – JOIN US!

July 4 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

The Madison Exchange Club, organizer of Madison’s July 4 th Parade, has chosen the Shoreline Greenway Trail to be the Grand Marshal of the parade emphasizing the environmental theme of this year’s event. The Exchange Club cited the Hammonasset segment of the trail in Madison as a showpiece for what is possible since the first stretch opened in 2015 calling it “one of the most popular walking and biking trails in Connecticut – not to mention a spectacular place for birdwatching.” According to The Exchange Club, “Madison is lucky to have this treasure.

As Grand Marshall, the Shoreline Greenway Trail organization members and supporters will lead the parade with a large contingent of walkers, bikers,
wheelchair riders, stroller-pushers, and wagon-pullers, everything you might see on the trail. All friends of the trail are invited to join the parade contingent and show how well supported the trail is in the community. There will be a few seats in a cart pulled by a tractor (thank you, Joe Tomas!!) for those who can’t make the walk (best to reserve a spot if you need it), and there will be neon green safety vests, with the trail logo, to be used for the day, for the first fifty people who show up to walk or ride with us.

Those who wish to participate should gather from 9:00 to 9:45 near the Stop and Shop parking
lot. Since the trail will lead the parade, it will be staged close to the beginning at Boston Post
Road and Samson Rock Drive.

Questions, call Madison’s chair Virginia Raff, 203-318-9649.
