DESCRIPTION:FINAL RIDE UPDATE!!!\n\nOK. We’re on for Saturday’s SGT 25 ride!  We may even have a nice tailwind courtesy of LEE.\n\nPlan to meet at 9:00 New Haven Lighthouse Point parking lot\, 21 Lighthouse Road\n\nEvery rider will get an SGT T-Shirts and ceremonial Sticker\nWe’ll all need to sign Waivers and we’ll hand out route Maps with QR codes for the detailed map.\n\nClick for :           Cue Sheet GUIDE To Getting To And Between The SHORELINE GREENWAY TRAIL\n\nWe plan to ride as a group with an average pace of 8-12 MPH.\nWe w1ill ride a combination of public connecting roads\, multipurpose packed gravel trails and sharrows.  Most bikes except elite road bikes should work fine.  I ride a road touring with 700 x 38 tires.\nThis is a non-supported ride.  NO Sag wagon.  We will have multiple stops in each town for water and snacks.\n \n9:15 EH – Cosey Beach Town Beach \n\n10:00 Branford- Stoney Creek Brewery Kiosk\n            Cookies\, water for water bottles\n11:00 Guilford – Floor Craze at the corner of River and Water Streets\n            water bottles\, some snack bars and bananas\n12:00 Madison – SGT Trailhead on BPR.\n            water\, some snacks\nThere will be a celebratory gathering Donahues Beach Grille near the very end on BPR where we will celebrate with  all riders and volunteers.\n\nSee you then!!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn September 16th at 9AM\, join bike riders for a ride along the entire 25-mile length of the existing sections and connecting corridors of the trail from East Haven to Madison.\nThis ride is for both casual and accomplished riders with 3 groups riding at the pace that fits them.\n\nThe ride will consist of a combination of Multipurpose Trails (some packed gravel and modest hills)\, Sharrows\, Sidewalks and shared\, public roadways.\nRide the entire 25-mile length OR take part in riding various sections with others.\n\nStops along the way at East Haven town Beach \, Branford’s Stoney Creek\, the Guilford Green and Hammonasset Beach in Madison will allow for water breaks and connecting with others.\n\nHelmets are required.\nPlan to meet at Lighthouse Point parking lot\, 21 Lighthouse Road at 9:00AM.\nWe encourage carpooling to start and final pickup at the Madison Clinton line in the Post Road.\n\n\n\n\nTime transiting depends on speed and stops. We tend to admire the majestic trees or rhapsodize over the colorful wildflowers\, but shrubs give us plenty to look at as well. Learn to identify some of the common local shrubs on the Hammonassett Greenway Trail with botanical author Lauren Brown.  Lauren Brown is the author of two botanical field guides\, Weeds and Wildflowers in Winter (W.W. Norton) and Grasses\, Sedges\, Rushes: An Identification Guide (Yale University Press).  She is vice-president of the Connecticut Botanical Society and serves on the board of directors of the Branford Land Trust.”\n\n\n\n\nWe will walk the Hammonasset-west section of the Shoreline Greenway Trail in Madison. \nMeet at 10 AM at  the Trailhead parking lot\, Post Road East\, Madison \nThis is being hosted by the Guilford Shoreline Greenway Trail team and partnering with the Branford Land Trust. \nAbout the Branford Land Trust: \nThe Branford Land Trust is a non-profit organization\, founded in 1967 with the goal of protecting Branford’s natural resources. We’ll take the Branford Trail back to the Tabor property and return on the Tabor Loop past the pollinator garden to the parking lot. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a hike Saturday\, August 5th\, 10 AM\, meeting at the Baldwin Middle School parking lot (68 Bullard Dr\, Guilford\, CT 06437). We will start our hike in Baldwin Woods\, heading north into the West River Preserve (owned by the Town of Guilford\, overseen by the Guilford Conservation Commission) towards the West River and then south into Bittner Park. These 3 adjoining pieces of open space comprise over 200 acres of public land and approximately 7 miles of trails. Wear hiking boots (some wet spots depending on weather) and some hilly terrain. Bug spray recommended. Leashed dogs welcomed. \nNOTE: the starting point has changed from earlier notices since there is a professional disc golf tournament in Bittner Park and parking will be limited there. DESCRIPTION:Shoreline Greenway Trail will need to Reschedule tomorrows (April 29th) Birding Master’s Walk at the Hammonasset section of the trail in Madison.\nThe rain looks imposing and our Bird Master\, Brian Toal has it on good authority that the birds have chosen to not be displaying their optimal plumage.\n\nLOOK for a new date to be set and check out the website for several other Masters Walks coming up along sections of the trail!\n\nDanB\n\n\n\n\nAs part of the Shoreline Greenways Trail’s 21st year\, the Shoreline Greenway Trail will hold a Master Series walk at the Hammonasset section in Madison\, with special Master\, Brian Toal\, past president Hartford Audubon Society\, for a special BIRDING walk. \nAs we walk\, you will learn about all things Birds including ‘voice’ identification and calls\, identification\, native and non-native species found along the trail\, and interesting facts about bird behavior as well as taking in the beauty of the trail. \nWe will be walking at an easy pace\, on gently rolling\, crushed gravel-paved terrain. 2.5 miles\, (approx. 90 minutes) round trip. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water if you wish. We’ll start\nfrom the Elliot Street parking area\, bear right and hike on a walking trail to enjoy a panoramic\nview of tidal wetlands at the Bradford Preserve. We backtrack onto the main granite-topped trail\nthrough picturesque woods with glacial outcroppings\, mountain laurel\, hickory and tulip trees. We\nthen head east on Pevetty Drive to the trail in Farm River State Park. In the park you can see natural\ncave formations and spectacular water views of Farm River. Easy walk\, two inclines.
