This summer, Resiliency is more in focus than ever, thanks to the work being done by one of our Interns, Daisy Everingham. Inspired by work for a graduate degree, it examines the trail’s resiliency.
What do we mean by resiliency?
Simply put, this work will understand how the trail can be managed and maintained sustainably going forward and the role it will play in ensuring the communities along it are able to adapt to the risks of our changing weather systems.
It will include both desk research and interviews with town members and experts along the coast to fully understand the current hazards and policies impacting the trail – whether that’s erosion from heavy rain or how the trail might need to adapt to meet town plans for addressing climate change.
Once this information is collected, it’ll provide the basis for a plan for the trail’s resiliency moving forward, giving recommendations for potential actions to keep the trail safe and enjoyable to use for many years to come!
This work is supported in part by the Greater New Haven Green Fund.
