DHHS Day of Service Helps Maintain SGT Hammonasset Trail Section!

By Luca Scafidi

On Friday, May 22nd, the Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) Interact Club came to the Shoreline Greenway Trail Hammonasset Trail Section to clean up and maintain our beautiful trail! This effort was part of the greater ‘Day of Service’ coordinated by the Interact Club.

The group was led by co-leaders, Caroline Keating and Lucy Burke, both past volunteers for SGT! Caroline was our 2025 Student Summer Intern who was instrumental to expanding our outreach and trail maintenance program, and who has since continued her service to the trail.

We are extremely thankful to the DHHS Interact Club and their leaders for their citizenship in maintaining the Hammonasset Section of SGT! This effort was also supported by our Madison Town Chair, Ginny Raff.

**Efforts like these are a result of the Student Engagement Program (SEP) that was initially created by Board Member Luca Scafidi and past Board Member Chris Willems. If you are a student in the local area, consider volunteering with us!
