On Saturday, July 26th, our High School Intern Caroline Keating hosted her first Trail Maintenance Session alongside Board Members Luca Scafidi and Chris Willems.
As part of our outreach, we coordinated registration through DonorPerfect. It was simple to set up with the help of SGT Consultant, Jay Strange. Additionally, for the first time, registration was open to students and adults, as a result three adult volunteers and two student volunteers showed up to help clean the trail in East Haven located off of Elliot Street.
When asked to give feedback about the events, one of our volunteers said, “It was a lot of fun and felt good to be a part of a team keeping the trails clean.” The weather was beautiful making it a perfect day to help out the trail! Overall a very successful day as the group cleared many plants out including Mugwort and Knotweed.
Caroline is hoping to organize further Trail Maintenance Sessions in Branford and Madison for the near future as she continues her work with SGT and the Student Engagement Program this Summer!
