Shoreline Greenway Trail and our partner Friends of Hammonasset sponsored the first of a series of horticultural workshops on Saturday, September 20.
The workshop, led by Barbara Yaeger, landscape architect and horticulturist, and Michael Gaines, licensed arborist, focused on how to plant trees. To demonstrate, Barbara donated two trees that they planted in the rain garden at the Eastern Trailhead parking lot. They also inspected, and in some cases corrected, the planting of the eight trees that were part of the original parking lot construction. Those in attendance thought they knew how to plant trees but still learned a great deal. A big thank you to Barbara and Mike!
